Profoto announces new Profoto B1X. The B1X improves on the B1 making it the companies new flagship location based strobe. "That’s 6.6lbs for a light that can HSS at 1/8000 of a second, gives you a flash power range from 2 to 500W/s, flash durations between 1/11,000s (2Ws) – 1/1,000s (500Ws) in normal mode or 1/19,000s (2Ws) – 1/1,000s (500Ws) in freeze mode, TTL (with compatible cameras), and 0.1-1.9-second recycle time with a burst mode that can fire off up to 20 flashes per second." (PetaPixel)
This thing looks very impressive and I would love to pick one up one day. HSS isn't a huge deal for me but none the less this is still exciting.

Instagram is killing Snapchat. Several days ago Instagram added face filters to their already stolen Instagram stories feature. Now almost every feature that is available on Snapchat is on Instagram!

Sony launches not one, but TWO new wide angle lenses! The 12-24 f/4 G and the 16-35 f/2.8 GM. I'm a huge fan of the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 and hope that this lives up Canon's reputation. I personally have not tried it out, but initial reviews are looking promising for both. Some reports say it is very little to no flaring, but sometimes I love a little flare in my photos!! That's why I have like 4 50-year-old lenses! The Sony 16-35 is a little more expensive than the Canon version, about $200 more.
